We're back from vacation!

It is 12:58 am and my family is all asleep. Yes, yes, I'm going to bed in a minute. I pinky promise I am not some workaholic. I PROMISE. :)
However, I thought I would update you on my adventures. The kids and I took a vacation to see my parents. It had been two years since we went to their home so we were overdue for a trip. The hubby stayed behind since he had to work and had been on vacation to see his parents back in March. They needed his moral support, so I was happy to support him, but I will say it was hard not having him for two weeks!
On our Utah trip, we stayed in a town called Santaquin, whose population in 2021 was listed as 15,379 according to Google. It was amazing! It's nestled up to a mountain called "Dry Mountain" which is green and gorgeous (not sure who named it "Dry," they must have been in a drought at the time) and just north of the town are acres and acres of vineyards. I felt like I was in Napa, California and yet at the same time Italy.
Separating the town from the vineyards is a long row of what looked to me like Pencil Conifers standing as a guard to outsiders. It was relaxing. The kids got some quality time with the grandparents and I got in a few YouTube videos for the channel.
During the trip I got to take my grandmother out to lunch and got to ask her questions about her early years and also my grandfather. For most of my life my grandmother and I have spoken different languages. Only in about the last 10 years have I been able to communicate with her in her native language and it has been incredible! I'm now starting to catch up on a lifetime of knowledge and it's a beautiful thing.
If I'm being real with you, I was a hot mess, I was crying one moment as I listened to stories, then laughing the next, all while stuffing my face with food from Golden Corral. It made me think about how time is a funny thing. We seem to have all the time in the world, but yet it really passes so fast. Before we know it grandparents are gone and we miss the opportunity to get to know them better, we miss the opportunity to ask them what their favorite memories were as a child, and we then spend years regretting that we didn't ask a dang thing.
Ask your grandparents before it's too late. Get to know them. They'll be happy for some one-on-one time.
Hugs,
Ingrid
